Pirates of the Human Being: Meet Your Microbial Mates

Visitors join our Captain and his cartoon side-kick, the parrot Polly, on an expedition to discover some of the amazing microbes that live in and on the human body.  From E. coli to Streptococcus mutans, visitors learn about the good, the bad, and the indifferent of the microbe world.  Visitors also get a chance to play the Microbial Mate Challenge.  If they answer correctly, they can join the Captain’s crew and get a tattoo.  If they get it wrong, it’s time to “walk the plank!”

The SuperFood Heroes

Antioxidant and the rest of the animated SuperFood Heroes use their antioxidant powers to protect cells and DNA from damage when Cell City is attacked by the Free Radical Rascals!  In this lively program, visitors learn how free radical molecules are created, and how “super foods” neutralize them.  Visitors can compete to become a SuperFood Hero themselves and get a team emblem to take home!

Lung Dissection

Imagine being tiny enough to go “caving” through the interior spaces and passages of human lungs. This interactive lung dissection helps visitors imagine what it would be like to travel through the lungs to see how they function.  Using a state-of-the-art live, high-definition digital camera, scientific animations, and audience participation, visitors learn first-hand about the respiratory system and how to keep it healthy.

Heart Dissection

Visitors get an inside look at the heart in this interactive dissection program. The program uses a state-of-the-art, high-definition camera, coupled with audience participation, to help visitors understand how the heart works and how to keep it healthy. After the dissection, visitors are invited to participate in hands-on activities to further their exploration.
