The Education Collections General Intern will be responsible for working with the Education Collections Manager and the Education Collections Assistant Manager work in the Museum’s new collections database, Ke:EMu. The department recently migrated from another database and significant elements of the data need to be cleaned up. In addition, the intern may be called on to help maintain the daily fulfillment of responsibilities of the department by pulling specimens for carts and educational programs, putting specimens away, and preparing, cataloging, inventory, and assisting with daily operations. This is a non-paid internship.
Required Skills
• Museum experience preferred
• Knowledge, experience or education in the areas of zoology, paleontology, anthropology, biology, health, space science, and/or museum studies.
• Ability to follow specific directions and see tasks through to completion
• Solid attention to detail
• Ability to follow specific directions
• Ability to work alone or as part of a team
• Clear and legible penmanship, steady hands
• Ability to help maintain a neat and clean working environment
• Solid communication skills
• Solid Computer Skills (will teach Ke:EMu onsite)
Training
Education Collections Manager and Education Collections Assistant Manager will train.
Schedule
Shifts available Monday and Wednesday, 8:30 a.m.-Noon, 1:00 -5:00 p.m. or all day shifts 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Two shifts per week required.
Commitment
June, 2013 to August, 2013 - start and end dates flexible but intern must commit to at least 2-3 months.
