Ben McConahey and Tiffany Talley have been friends since
childhood -- and that childhood included lots of trips to the
Museum.
"I was basically raised in the diorama halls and the Hall of
Life," Tiffany said, "I don't really have a first memory of the
Museum because it was always there; just a constant presence in my
life."
The McConahey and Talley families have supported the Museum for
years, as donors, advocates, and volunteers on boards and
committees. Now, Ben and Tiffany are carrying on the family
tradition. They are currently serving as the cochairs of the Young
Professionals Committee, a group of young leaders dedicated to
making sure the Museum and its mission endure for years to
come.
"The opportunity to a part of the Young Professionals Committee
has been the perfect way for us to give a little bit back for all
that the Museum has given to us," Ben said.
What the Museum gave to Ben and Tiffany was the encouragement to
explore and a foundation of scientific knowledge, ideas they are
excited to share with others. And what they plan to give to the
Museum is both their time and money, so that they can engage other
young leaders who believe in the value of the educational
experiences the Museum provides to people of all ages.
"This place is a lifelong experience for us, so it's easy -- as
friends and two people passionate about the future of the
institution -- to carry the Young Professionals effort forward at
the Museum," Tiffany said.
