Encana Joins Museum in Presenting T. Rex Encounter

Just as T. Rex Encounter uses cutting-edge technology to bring to life creatures from millions of years ago, presenting sponsor Encana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. uses innovative technology to recover resources formed millions of years ago.

Through its manufacturing style of production, Encana maximizes operating efficiency while minimizing its environmental footprint, providing Colorado and the nation with a clean, abundant, domestic source of energy-natural gas. Encana is one of North America's largest producers of natural gas, the main heating fuel for more than 62.5 percent of homes in the United States. Approximately 22 percent of all energy consumption in the country comes from natural gas and the demand increases every year.

Encana explores for and produces natural gas in Colorado, Wyoming, Texas, and Louisiana. Here in Colorado, the company's operations encompass the Western Slope as well as the northern Front Range. Encana employs more than 1,000 people in the state, as well as 800 third-party contractors, and contributed more than $30 million in state taxes last year.

In addition to jobs and taxes, the company also seeks to build lasting relationships in the communities where it operates. Last year, the Denver Business Journal named Encana one of the top five corporate philanthropists in Colorado. Encana contributed $1.6 million in 2010 to the strength and sustainability of Colorado communities and programs that service youth and education, environment, health and wellness, and community development. Through presentations such as T. Rex Encounter, Encana promotes community education and learning opportunities for citizens of all ages.

"As a business we help provide an important source of energy for our nation," said Jeff Wojahn, president of Encana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. "But we do so with the goal of minimizing our environmental footprint through the use of innovation and technology, while supporting the communities in which we operate. We are pleased to collaborate with the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, which shares our commitment to quality science education for the public."
