The Hikers exhibit in Expedition Health was made possible by
longtime Museum supporters Steve and Kathy McConahey and their
family. More than 100 special guests joined the McConaheys for a
debut party for The Hikers on June 2, 2011.
Over the years, the McConaheys have given generously to support
overall operations as well as specific youth education programs and
special events at the Museum. Steve McConahey played an important
role in bringing The Hikers to Denver, a process that began six
years ago as a dream and has finally become reality. Kathy
McConahey has provided her leadership and volunteer service to the
Museum for many years, including more than seven years as chair of
the Leadership Circle Advisory Council.
"We wanted to make a meaningful contribution to the Museum in
return for all that the institution has given our family and the
community," said Steve McConahey. "Like many families, we have
dealt with serious health issues. As a result, we support numerous
education and research activities with the hope that new
discoveries and more awareness will lead to healthier lives. We
know The Hikers will increase the impact of Expedition Health and
enhance the learning of those who visit."
