Exhibit Guides support the educational objectives in Expedition Health by working in teams to facilitate a variety of health and wellness activities for the visitors. They work with Museum collections on touch carts, greet visitors and assist in our experiment area, Biology Base Camp.
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent customer service skills Solid oral communication skills Ability and desire to work with people of all ages Firm understanding of facilitation techniques as outlined in training Ability and desire to work both independently and as part of a team
Training:
The training program consists of 6 hours of general museum orientation, 6 hours of formal training devoted to your position, and 32 hours of on-the-job training.
Schedule:
One 4.5-hour shift per week or every other week, 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. or 12:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Minimum Commitment:
One year

Please remember that volunteer placement is a selective process and not all applicants are accepted into the program. The Museum reserves the right to place volunteers in the area staff feels is best suited to the applicant's skills and the needs of the Museum. A minimum commitment of one year is required for all volunteer positions.
Family Volunteers
More than 150 Museum volunteers are members of a family group volunteering together, making a critical contribution to the volunteer corps. Children six through 13 are welcome to volunteer as members of a family group, with a responsible adult who participates as a volunteer. Separate applications should be submitted for each individual, including the children. Adults 18 and older, please complete the Adult Volunteer Application (PDF | 627KB).
