Magic Mountain Tour Guide

Tour Guides will lead tours of the Magic Mountain site and educate the public about the archaeological work conducted at the site, its importance in the region, and to teach the public about stewardship for archeological sites (such as what to do if members of the public encounter an archaeological artifact).

In the 2017 dig season, we hosted over 1,000 members of the public for tours and this year we are anticipating another great turn-out. This is an exciting opportunity to share the importance of archaeology with the public, and provide them with the chance to observe an excavation in real time! Tours will each have approximately 12-15 participants, and run throughout the day on excavation days.

We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic, and flexible volunteers with a general knowledge and interest for archaeology, who are enthusiastic about communicating with the public, and excited to work with people of all ages. Training will be provided so a prior knowledge of the site is not required. You do not need to be a content expert, but rather have a passion for learning new content and excitement about sharing new information to help enrich the guest’s experience.
