Geology on the White River

The White River, flowing westward 34 miles from Bonanza, Utah, near the Colorado-Utah border, has been referred to as the best canoeing in Utah, yet it remains wild and secluded. Together with Museum geologist Lou Taylor, you’ll paddle through lands reached only by river, follow eagles in flight, keep an eye out for abundant wildlife, and ponder erosions carving the landscapes of the West from the vantage point of the river that is doing the carving. The water is generally smooth with occasional rapids up to Class I.
