Evaluation Assistant

If you are inquisitive by nature, curious about human behavior, or see yourself as an amateur detective, this volunteer opportunity might be the one for you! Get the insider’s perspective on how visitors view, utilize, and perceive the Museum, its exhibits and programs. Become a visitor advocate. The growing field of visitor studies works towards understanding and enhancing the visitor experience through research, evaluation, and dialogue. Join us in activities including: observing visitor behavior; collecting statistics, facts, and figures about our visitors; distributing and collecting surveys and questionnaires; interviewing visitors about their experiences; tracking time visitors spend in exhibits, galleries, and/or activities; enter data into spreadsheets and look for trends and results.

Skills and Abilities: Friendly, outgoing, experience working with the public, good with families/children, willingness to follow script/format, solid computer skills, stamina, and enthusiasm
Training: On-the-job training with the Visitor Research and Program Evaluation Manager
Schedule: Four-and-a-half hour shifts available weekdays and weekends
Age Requirements: Available to individual applicants 18 or older
