Museum galaxy guides facilitate hands-on space science activities and demonstrations for the public in the Space Odyssey gallery. Museum galaxy guides work as a team, delivering an out-of-this world educational experience for our visitors through innovative, interactive live performances and demonstrations and one-on-one conversations with visitors. The Space Odyssey philosophy is one that promotes curiosity and continued learning experiences for people of all ages. Museum galaxy guides have a zest for life and a zeal for space science!
Skills & Abilities: Good communication skills and a positive attitude are essential. No background in space science is necessary, but an enthusiasm for learning is.
Training: Lectures and technique training (14 hours in three months), on-the-job training (32 hours), Museum orientation
Schedule: Four-and-a-half-hour shifts available Monday, Wednesday, afternoon only, Thursday, morning only, Saturday, and Sunday
Minimum Commitment: One shift every week or every other week for one year
Age Requirement: Available to individual applicants 15 and older; family groups
