Marc Levine, PhD, assistant curator of archaeology, Anthropology Department
Genghis Khan welcomed all religions to his empire. The Mongols adopted the Tibetan School of Buddhism and a large Buddhist temple lay at the heart of Karakorum. In this related field trip, you will visit Shambhala Mountain Center near Red Feather Lakes, home to the Great Stupa of Dharmakaya, one of the most significant examples of sacred Buddhist architecture outside of Asia. Levine will accompany you on a tour of the stupa and for an organic lunch.
