Frontiers of Evolution with E. O. Wilson

Charles DarwinJoin us in celebrating the 150th anniversary of the publication of On the Origin of Species. Via live webcast, a panel of scientists led by E.O. Wilson and Everett Mendelsohn will discuss Darwin's legacy and talk about the frontiers of evolutionary and molecular biology.

Update

Due to illness, the live webcast has been cancelled.  Instead, we will be offering a taped program, presented by the British Council.  This program brings together a panel of leading figures from the field of evolutionary science and beyond to look at “global Darwinism”, assessing the impact of Darwin’s big idea and exploring how his theory has embedded itself in public consciousness to form the basis for our modern understanding of life.

The program will begin with taped remarks by E.O. Wilson, followed by a panel discussion with speakers including the award-winning author Ian McEwan;  Randal Keynes of the Charles Darwin Trust, author, conservationist and great-great grandson of Charles Darwin; and evolutionary biologist Armand Leroi; Dr. Sandy Knapp of the London Natural History Museum, and Professor Peter Bowler of Queen University, Belfast.

This lecture is a part of the Darwin 150 Project Lecture Series, which is designed to educate the public on the most important insights from Darwin's great book, as well as provide historical context and exciting discoveries at the frontiers of 21st century evolutionary biology.
