The Ultimate Field Trip
DENVER—The Space Odyssey exhibition and the new all-digital Gates Planetarium will provide powerful experiences for children as they seek to understand their place in our universe.
Teachers may also reserve time in Space Odyssey’s state-of-the-art science classroom, the El Pomar Space Education Center. The classroom holds approximately 35 students and provides access to the latest materials and practices in technology and education. Classroom offerings include hands-on interactive programs based on astronomy and space science topics.
-
Students will gain the ability and confidence to understand and interpret current space science stories and discoveries with meaningful, hands-on activities.
-
Space Odyssey experiences will support teachers and students in reaching local and national SMT standards and improving science literacy.
-
Interactive activities provide a great chance for students to understand the scientific method.
-
Thanks to the Colorado General Assembly and the Colorado Department of Education, the Museum will be providing free space science opportunities for approximately 800 Colorado teachers and 20,000 Colorado students in the 2003/2004 school year. There will be eight free professional development programs for teachers beginning July 22, 2003. Participating teachers will register their students for an ultimate field trip (including the Space Odyssey exhibition, the new all-digital Gates Planetarium, and free classroom programs in the new El Pomar Space Education Center), or an in-school visit with a discovery lesson, star lab or star party at the school.
