
Plan A Visit
Before calling Reservations
- Determine your date to visit and reserve transportation.
- Know your school contact information: address, phone, and contact person.
- Know the number of students and adults in your group; minimum of 10 students is required.
Call Reservations 303.322.7009 or 1.800.925.2250, Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
- Please have the teacher who is visiting call for reservations.
- Make your reservation at least three weeks in advance to improve your chances for scheduling your preferred programs, dates, and times. Please have alternatives in mind when you call.
- A confirmation letter will be sent. Please review the confirmation letter for accuracy and bring your confirmation letter with you the day of your visit.
If you are going to be late
- Call Reservations immediately. We cannot guarantee accommodating late arrivals without prior notification.
- Please note that there is absolutely no late admittance to Phipps IMAX Theater or Gates Planetarium.
If you must cancel
- Cancellations with less than two weeks’ notice will be charged a $50 fee, except in the case of severe weather.
When you arrive
- Please enter through the school entrance on the south side of the building, at least 20 minutes before your first scheduled program or show.
- Present one form of payment at the school cashier desk: cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.
- Carpoolers: Main parking is located on the north side of the building; there are limited spaces on the south side. Please be sure your vehicle is legally parked.
General Information
- Teachers and chaperones: One adult per 10 students is admitted free and is required! Additional adults present at the time of check-in are admitted at the school rate. Please note: A Museum membership is not valid for student or chaperone admission.
- Chaperone Stickers: In the interest of the safety of the children, the Museum requires all chaperones be present at check-in and receive chaperone stickers from the head teacher at the time of payment. Any late arriving adults will be required to purchase full-price admission tickets and will not be given a chaperone sticker.
- Home schools are welcome and pay school rates for programs. Home schools are subject to the same policies as school groups. Home schools may want to attend one of our Home School Days.

Funds from the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) provide one free visit per school year for up to 15,000 students from the counties of Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, and Jefferson. SCFD admission is available for self-guided visits and specific classes only, Monday–Friday. SCFD funds are limited, so please reserve early.

Half-price scholarships are available for self-guided visits, camp-ins, and Planetarium shows. IMAX is not included. Schools are eligible for assistance if at least 50 percent of its students qualify for the federal free and reduced lunch program. Scholarship funds are limited, so reserve early for the best chance of receiving assistance.

Sign language interpreters are available for tours, and closed captioning for some IMAX shows is available. Please inquire when you make reservations. The Museum’s TTY phone number is 303.370.8257.
