Public Art

Iridescent Cloud by Laura Haddad and Tom Drugan welcomes visitors to the Morgridge Family Exploration Center. This original work of art is commissioned and owned by the City and County of Denver. It is a stunning feature of the new Nature Plaza, just outside the new wing. A sculpture of faceted “crystals” suspended overhead and a wide arc of glass-textured pavement on the plaza work together to refract light and create a prismatic experience. The concept is inspired by the Museum’s gems and minerals.

The installation also includes Spectral Band, an arc-shaped swath of glass-textured lithocrete pavement that ends with a “pot” of pyrite, also known as “fool’s gold.”
