On April 7th from 6 - 9 PM, the museum will be hosting a
free event for new members. It is a wonderful opportunity to get a
look at collections and projects that are happening
behind-the-scenes. From the Department of Anthropology
store-rooms, we will be bringing out several items, all of
which were made by Haida artists. Come take a look at
argillite and horn carvings, bentwood boxes, and a 100
year old eulachon fish oil container that still smells like it
was being used yesterday. You will learn a little about Haida
culture, the islands called Haida Gwaii, and perhaps be
inspired to find the Northwest Coast cultures exhibit in the
North American Indian Cultures exhibit hall. For more
information on the New Member Night event, please go to /join/memberships/member-events/new-member-night.
We hope to see you then!
