John Demboski
and Jeff Stephenson just found out that their National Science Foundation proposal
was funded to the tune of $498,417
(year one $161,647). The funds support the 3-year long
project
"Uncrowding, rehousing, and electronic migration of the
mammal collection at the Denver Museum of Nature &
Science" and will allow them to purchase new
cabinets to rehouse the mammal collection (in time for the new Education
and Collections Facility), hire a full-time curatorial
assistant, migrate mammal specimen records to a web-accessible
database (ARCTOS), and
support various outreach activities that will highlight the
collection.
Truly excellent news!
