Scientists from the Space Sciences Department take you "behind
the stories" using the best images and animation available to help
understand the latest developments.
June 2012 - This month we have guest
speaker Don Hassler, Science Program Director at the Southwest
Research Institute, and Principal Investigator of the
Radiation Assessment Detector (RAD). RAD is en route to Mars as
part of the Mars Science Laboratory. RAD will make the first
measurements of high energy radiation on the surface of Mars -
measurements that are crucial for understanding of future astronaut
safety and possible evolution of life on Mars.
