Clay Model of Sauna I: The Thin and the Fat Clay Model of Sauna II: Woman

We just finished our first day of work with the Konovalenko family. I conducted two hours of oral history with Anna Konovalenko, the artist's wife; Rick Wicker photographed two clay models of sculptures in the DMNS collection. The photos above include overviews of Sauna I: The Thin and the Fat, and Sauna II: Woman. Note the stunning close-up shot of the woman's face on Rick's computer-- it's still clear that Konovalenko was able to put emotion into clay! Tomorrow we focus on two sculptures that we have never seen before. Stay tuned!
