Zombies Invade Genetics of Taste Lab!

Posted 6/4/2013 12:06 AM by Nicole Garneau | Comments

Our Genetics of Taste research study was honored to be the inspiration for this AWESOME sci-fi film made by young film makers Will, Denisse, Elian and Sam from Trail Ridge Middle School in Longmont, Colorado.

Zombies In Hall

Their debut film, Attack of the Blue Tongued Zombies, takes you to the Genetics of Taste lab at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. There, protagonist Sam (played by Sam) seeks out the lab to learn more about genetics and to take part in the research study. But does this taste study really turn you into a Zombie? Follow Sam's adventures as he learns more about taste, genetics, and how to survive a zombie attack!

The science and videography program is made possible by a local non-profit called Earth Explorers. The mission is to open doors to science and 21st century skills by educating and mentoring underrepresented youth; using video and new media technology to connect young people to deep networks of community resources. Special shout-outs to Trail Ridge Middle School teachers, Liz and Axel, for their support, to mentors BJ and Adriana from CU and to Carolyn Wiley for volunteering her time to teach the students about film making and videography. (Do you have skills you can lend in film making? Contact the team at Earth Explorers to become a volunteer!)
