June 2013 – Special guest speaker, Dr. Don Hassler, brings us up to date on the latest results from the RAD instrument on the Mars Science Laboratory. Dr. Hassler is Science Program Director at the Southwest Research Institute and Principal Investigator for the Radiation Assessment Detector (RAD) onboard MSL. RAD measures and identifies all high-energy radiation on the Martian surface - measurements that are crucial for understanding of future astronaut safety and possible evolution of life on Mars.
