Was out this past week and a half with students in the Bridger (Green River) Basin of southwestern Wyoming. Highschool Teen Science Scholars, undergraduate students, other scientists, DMNS volunteers, and a few dogs.  The Green River Basin is a treasure trove of Eocene critters that lived about 50-48 million years ago. During that time southwestern Wyoming was more like Louisana or Florida.

It's also now home to more arid-adapted mammals such as kangaroo rats, pocket mice, and even some chipmunks that live out in the sagebrush.  A good time was had by all even though it was hot, dusty, and continually windy.
