What if I am unable to attend all face to face portions of this workshop?
Your attendance at all three face-to-face meetings and participation in the weekly online discussion are required in order to meet the requirements for 1.5 graduate credits from the Colorado School of Mines.
Is there a prerequisite for the course?
No, all practicing 4th and 5th grade and physical education teachers are encouraged to enroll.
Will the content in this course differ from the content in Body of Knowledge?
Yes, although this course is focused on health science, it features new content. Participation is encouraged whether or not you participated in Body of Knowledge.
What standards will this course meet?
Health and PE: Standard 2 Physical and Personal Wellness 1: Demonstrate the ability to engage in healthy eating habits.
Life Science: Standard 2 Life Science 2: Human body systems have basic structures, functions and needs.
Embody Health, Empower Minds is the latest health course from the Denver Museum of Nature & Science designed to improve students' success by bringing healthy practices into your classroom. This course will make a positive impact in students' lives across all subject areas through best practice health science education. We will focus on effectively using Museum resources and strategies for incorporating information on nutrition, stress management, and healthy lifestyles into a standards-based curriculum. This six-week course includes three face-to-face meetings as well as an ongoing, interactive online component designed specifically for the 4th and 5th grade Classroom and PE (Physical Education) Teachers.

Credit
This course is for credit only. 1.5 graduate-level relicensure credits are available through the Colorado School of Mines. The course credit fee is $70 and due at the time of registration.
Stipend
Participants will receive a $200 stipend after the successful completion of the online course, including the three face-to-face sessions.
