Denver Museum Teen Science Scholars Program

Grades 10-12

In the Denver Museum Teen Science Scholars Program, you will collaborate with professional scientists in the field and in the lab at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. The Denver Museum Teen Science Scholars Program is open to students who can demonstrate their commitment to science-related goals. This is a summer program that will have a lasting impact as you learn more about science careers and conduct actual research at a leading scientific institution.

Paleontology: Collaborate with paleontologists at a field site in central Wyoming to search for evidence of ancient plants and animals from 50 million years ago. After collecting data and fossils, return to the Museum’s laboratory to process the specimens and analyze what you collected.

Zoology: Collaborate with zoologists at field sites in western United States to participate in the study of arachnids (spiders), insects and mammals. In the laboratory, prepare specimens for the Museum’s collections and conduct data analysis.

Health Sciences: Collaborate with molecular biologists on the study of how genetics effects taste.  In the Genetics of Taste Laboratory, extract and process DNA for gene sequencing and ancestry analysis.

For an application or more details on the program, please download the Teen Science Scholars brochure, call 303.370.6473, or e-mail us at ScienceScholars@dmns.org

The application deadline for 2011 is Monday, April 4, 2011.  Check back for more details and any changes in the program.
