Program Description

How Our Brains Learn, Feel, Behave, and Socialize When There is Adversity and Trauma

In this 45-minute session, we will explore brain development through adversity and resiliency, understanding how the brain is affected by traumatic events and how the brain repairs and heals! We will share a variety of brain-aligned strategies and practices that can be implemented at home and school to calm our nervous systems while building engagement for learning!

Dr. Lori Desautels is an Assistant Professor at Butler University in the School of Education. Founder of the Educational Neuroscience Symposium, Dr. Desautels also teaches a graduate certification course in Applied Educational Neuroscience/Brain and Trauma.
