Unraveling Mummies: Modern Technology, Dissection, and Ancient Egypt

Unraveling Mummies: Modern Technology, Dissection, and Ancient Egypt, Grades 6-8

Modern technology allows us to view and study mummies like we never before. Using CT scans and dissections of a real sheep heart, students dig into the culture, anatomy, beliefs, and mummification and burial practices exercised by ancient Egyptians.

FAQS

Group Size:

Capacity for each facilitated Field Trip Adventure (FTA) program will be reduced for fall 2021. A maximum of 20 students and 4 chaperones will be allowed per FTA program to allow for physical distancing in FTA studio spaces when possible. 1 chaperone per 10 students is required. DMNS is actively monitoring all public health guidelines for school groups.

Face Coverings:

DMNS prioritizes the health and safety of our guests, staff and community. We are adhering to all CDC, CDPHE and DPHE guidelines around face coverings. Following the City and County of Denver Public Health Order (August 17, 2021) for schools and extracurricular activities, and in consideration of the interactive nature of FTA programming where physical distancing is often not possible, we are requiring all students, teachers, and staff to wear a face covering during facilitated Field Trip Adventure (FTA) programming in our indoor studios, regardless of vaccination status.

Physical Distancing:

We are currently not requiring physical distancing for students in our Field Trip Adventure (FTA) programming. If your school has guidelines that requires students to be distanced, please reach out to us at 303.370.6000 to discuss accommodations or other options.
