SCFD Community Free Day celebrating all children will also include a meet and greet with actress Sofia Lama and family resource booths.

The Denver Museum of Nature & Science is partnering with the Mexican Cultural Center, the Consulate General of Mexico in Denver and Telemundo Denver to host a Dia del Nino celebration for its SCFD Community Free Day on April 23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

New this year, Telemundo Denver will sponsor an appearance by Telemundo network talent Sofia Lama from the soap opera Eva La Trailera. Lama will be at the Museum from 2 to 4 p.m. meeting with families and posing for photos. And Denver Public Schools will host family resource tables for programs and services such as Medicaid/CHP+, Child Find and the Denver Preschool Program.

 

Additionally, the celebration will include music and dance performances, face painting, crafts, a climbing wall, visits from Colorado sports mascots, a Museum-wide scavenger hunt and story time in French. The Denver Public Library’s bookmobile, The Reading Rocket, will be parked in front of the Museum from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

Access to the temporary exhibition “Chocolate: The Exhibition” will be free, and special discounts on tickets for the temporary exhibition “Robot Revolution,” IMAX and Planetarium will be offered as part of the Museum’s Dia del Nino celebration.

 

Transportation and Parking

Limited free parking is available at the Museum, so alternative transportation is highly encouraged. Additional free parking will be available at East High School, 1600 City Park Esplanade. Free shuttle buses will run throughout the day between the Museum and the high school.
