CRAWL YOUR WAY INTO THE WORLD OF BUGS
OPENS MARCH 10 AT THE DENVER MUSEUM OF NATURE & SCIENCE
DENVER — The Denver Museum of Nature & Science welcomes “Bugs.” They’re bigger, they’re better, they’re buggier than ever. This interactive exhibition takes you into the incredible world of critters as you learn how to think, work and come eye to eye with nature’s true geniuses.
Will you save the Japanese honeybee hive from an invading hornet? Join forces and press on multiple buttons to raise the temperature in the beehive and get rid of the intruder. Can you spot the orchid mantis before she spears you for her lunch in the secret garden? Light up your flashlight against a group of flowers and find the camouflaged mantis. Can you fly as fast as the wind? Make your own paper insect and see if the wind tunnel makes it fly up high!
Bugs make up 90% of all animal species on Earth, yet few of us know how essential and powerful these creatures really are. Discover how their adaptations are inspiring solutions to some of our most complex problems and imagine what’s possible in the future in “Bugs.”
“Bugs are fascinating and beautiful, and so is this exhibit,” said Denver Museum of Nature & Science Senior Curator of Entomology Curator Frank Krell. “It’s a feast for our senses and will give visitors new experiences and insights into the unseen world of small critters.”
This exhibition shows the Museum’s commitment to making the experience accessible to more communities. For the first time ever, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science has internally created a Spanish audio guide for the exhibit, making it easier for Spanish-speaking visitors to fully engage with the content. Guests will be able to scan a QR code from one of our signs inside the exhibition, which will take guests to the audioguide which they can then play on their smartphones. Headphones or earbuds are highly recommended.
The exhibition runs from March 10 through Aug. 27.
Sensory advisory: This exhibition is a high-sensory environment containing significant lighting effects (including a strobe light located in the dragonfly chamber), sounds and music, and interactive media screens. You could expect hyperactivity among children.
Bugs is created by Te Papa Tongarewa Museum of New Zealand and Weta Workshop (the creative studio behind the Lord of the Rings films’ fantastical sets).

DENVER – El Museo de Naturaleza y Ciencia de Denver da la bienvenida a "Bugs". Una exhibición interactiva que te lleva al increíble mundo de las criaturas, mientras aprendes a pensar, trabajar y a enfrentarte cara a cara con los verdaderos genios de la naturaleza.
¿Salvarás la colmena de abejas japonesas de un avispón invasor? Une tus fuerzas y pulsa varios botones para aumentar la temperatura de la colmena y deshacerte del intruso. ¿Podrás detectar a la mantis orquídea antes de que te ataque en el jardín secreto? Enciende tu linterna contra un grupo de flores y encuentra a la mantis camuflada. ¿Puedes volar tan rápido como el viento? Haz tu propio insecto de papel y comprueba si el túnel de viento lo hace volar alto.
"Los bichos son fascinantes y hermosos, y también lo es esta exposición", dijo el conservador principal de entomología del Museo de la Naturaleza y la Ciencia de Denver, Frank Krell. "Es una fiesta para nuestros sentidos y ofrecerá a los visitantes nuevas experiencias y conocimientos sobre el mundo invisible de los pequeños insectos".
Esta exhibición muestra el compromiso del Museo por hacer accesible la experiencia a más comunidades. Por primera vez, el Museo de Naturaleza y Ciencia de Denver ha creado internamente una audioguía en español para la exhibición, facilitando así que los visitantes hispanohablantes se involucren plenamente con el contenido. Los visitantes podrán escanear un código QR de uno de nuestros letreros dentro de la exposición, que les llevará a la audioguía que podrán reproducir en sus teléfonos inteligentes. La exhibición estará abierta del 10 de marzo al 27 de agosto.
