DENVER – Oct. 14 – The Denver Museum of Nature & Science, the region’s leading resource for informal science education, announces the addition of Matthew Burkett to its Board of Trustees.

“I’m looking forward to tapping into Matthew’s vision and energy as we develop new initiatives and build on efforts that have proven successful in our work to ignite the community’s passion for science and nature,” said George Sparks, President and CEO of the Museum.

Burkett is the founder, chairman and CEO of The Flyfisher Group, a capital, consulting and holding company. Prior to founding The Flyfisher Group, Burkett was a lobbyist for a large telecommunications company in Washington, D.C. His three passions – family, community and fly fishing – drew him back to Colorado.

“Whether through community redevelopment, philanthropy or recreation, I’m passionate about serving my community and am grateful for the opportunity to help guide the Museum on its journey of service looking into the future,” said Burkett.

Burkett is also involved in the Burkett Family Foundation and Lincoln Hills Cares. He received bachelor’s degrees in English literature and creative writing from Oberlin College in Ohio.
