DENVER – April 13, 2015 – The Denver Museum of Nature & Science is partnering with the Mexican Cultural Center and the Consulate General of Mexico in Denver to host a Día del Niño celebration for its SCFD Free Day on Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In addition to free general admission for all visitors, the celebration will include music and dance performances by Los Chinelos, Mexico Mixto, Danza Guadalupana Matachina, and Cleo Parker Robinson Dance; face painting; crafts; visits from Colorado sports mascots; a Museum-wide scavenger hunt; and One Book for Colorado readings in English and Spanish. The Denver Public Library’s bookmobile, The Reading Rocket, will be parked in front of the Museum from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Additionally, Denver Parks and Recreation will be issuing My Denver Cards to Denver Public Schools students and facilitating an outdoor teambuilding challenge course at the Museum during the Día del Niño celebration.

Access to the temporary exhibition Mythic Creatures: Dragons, Unicorns, and Mermaids will be free, and special discounts on IMAX and Planetarium tickets will be offered as part of the Museum’s Día del Niño celebration.
Press Conference
A press conference to kick off the Día del Niño celebration will be held at the Museum at 10 a.m. on April 25, and will include remarks from Jeremias Guzman, deputy consul general of Mexico in Denver; Marcela de la Mar, executive director of the Mexican Cultural Center in Denver; Romaine Pacheco, director of boards and commissions for the state of Colorado (on behalf of Governor John Hickenlooper); Cristal DeHerrera, deputy city attorney for the city of Denver; Albus Brooks, Denver City Council District 8 representative; and Salvador Carrera, director of multicultural language and outreach services at Denver Public Schools and host of EDUCA Radio.
Transportation and Parking
Limited free parking is available at the Museum, so alternative transportation is recommended. Additional free parking will be available at East High School, 1600 City Park Esplanade, and Manuel High School, 1700 E. 28th Ave. Free shuttle buses will run throughout the day between the Museum and the high schools.
