UPCOMING EXHIBITIONS
Opens March 12 - BODY WORLDS &
The Story of the Heart
This all-new exhibition will reveal - through the
lenses of anatomy, cardiology, psychology and culture - how the
heart nourishes, regulates and sustains life. The exhibition
will give Museum visitors profound insight into the human body,
health and disease, and the intricate world of the cardiovascular
system. The exhibition will awe visitors with more than 200
human specimens, including whole-body plastinates, organs and
translucent body slices.
IMAX
Coming February 19 - Arabia IMAX
Go behind the veil on a journey into the exotic world of Arabia
and experience the culture, history and religion of this unfamiliar
region of the world. Explore the ancient tombs of a lost city, dive
into the shipwrecks of the Red Sea with underwater archaeologists,
and experience the extraordinary pilgrimage known as the
hajj-the largest gathering of people on Earth.
Coming March 19 - Hubble IMAX
Experience a gripping story full of hope, crushing
disappointment, dazzling ingenuity, bravery and triumph. Hubble
recounts the amazing journey of the Hubble Space Telescope,
arguably the most important scientific instrument since Galileo's
original telescope and the greatest success in space since the Moon
landing. Narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, Hubble will change
the way you see the universe.
FEBRUARY EVENTS
Space Science - Colorado Skies
Wednesday, February 10 at 7 p.m. - $8 for members, $10 for
nonmembers, $5 for children (ages 3-12)
Join Larry Sessions from the Metropolitan State College and
Community College of Aurora for a night of stargazing. Stay
warm in the Planetarium while you embark on a cosmic journey
through the wintery night sky.
Arabia IMAX Premiere with Robert Lacey
Friday, February 12 at 8:00 p.m. - $15 for members, $18
for nonmembers
The Denver premiere of the new giant-screen film Arabia
includes a chance for further exploration as Robert Lacey, an
international best-selling author and the film's leading expert and
narrator, shares insights from his years of studying the region.
Lacey, who lived for a time near the Red Sea, will unlock the
secrets of a complex society in the midst of monumental change
Behind-the-Scenes Tour - Rare Books and More from the
Library Collections
Tuesday, February 16 at 6 p.m. - $20 for members, $25 for
nonmembers
Librarian Kathie Gully invites you into the hidden storage spaces
behind the Museum's walls. Peek into rare treasures like
Captain Cook's chronicle of his voyage around the world, the first
two volumes of National Geographic, and Darwin's natural selection
papers.
The Science Lounge: Life Out There
Thursday, February 18 from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Enjoy a mind-expanding experience with cocktails and entertainment
every third Thursday of the month. Ages 21 and up. This
month, Astrobiologist David Grinspoon, PhD, and space scientist Ka
Chun Yu, PhD take you on a mind-bending trip through space and time
to search for clues to life. Your journey will include
state-of-the-art digital visuals and live music by House Band to
the Universe.

Explore the wonders of the universe at the Denver Museum of Nature
& Science and enjoy outstanding permanent exhibitions,
including Expedition Health, Space Odyssey, Prehistoric
Journey, Egyptian Mummies, and more.
Arts & History - Conversations with
History
Thursday, February 25 at 7 p.m. - FREE
Listen in as Patty Limerick, faculty director and chair for the
Center of the American West and professor of history at the
University of Colorado, Boulder, interviews the 26th president of
the United States, Theodore Roosevelt. Famous for being one
of the first conservationists, Roosevelt (played by actor Clay
Jenkinson, a humanities scholar, author, and social commentator)
offers insight as to how yesterday's perspectives can help us solve
today's problems.
Children's Workshop - Weather Wonders
Saturday, February 27 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. - $40 for members, $50
for nonmembers
Have fun and get your hands wet while we learn about the wonders
of weather. Study storm clouds and rainbows with entertaining
and interactive experiments. Ages 4 and 5.
Children's Workshop - Cave Explorers
Saturday, February 27 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. - $40 for
members, $50 for nonmembers
Find out why you shouldn't eat cave popcorn as we study the
exciting underground world of caves. Put on your spelunking
cap and construct your own cave craft to take home. Grades K
and 1.
Children's Workshop - Crazy Chemistry
Saturday, February 27 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. - $40 for members, $50
for nonmembers
Pretend you're a mad scientist for the day as we mix up crazy
concoctions and learn about the basics of chemistry. Watch
what happens as cream transforms from a liquid to an icy solid and
enjoy a tasty sweet treat. Grades 2 and 3.
Children's Workshop - Natural Disasters
Saturday, February 27 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. - $40 for members, $50
for nonmembers
Explore the colossal forces of nature through hands-on experiments
to determine how disasters like Hurricane Katrina and the Haitian
earthquake occur. Grades 4 - 6.
