Surfer of the Cretaceous seas

Back when Colorado was covered in a shallow sea, slick predatory fish up to 20 feet long, like Xiphactinus audax, cruised about, looking for their next meal. This specimen, from the 75-million-year-old Pierre Shale, was found in 1967, near Snowmass, Colorado.
