The Museum houses 43 specimens (mounts and study skins) and 5 eggs of the now extinct passenger pigeon

Once the most numerous vertebrate on the planet, the passenger pigeon was driven to extinction rapidly due to overharvesting and loss of habitat. Several of the Museum’s specimens are featured in a diorama in the Northern and Rare Birds Hall.
