Freedom Day

On June 19, 1865, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, the last of the enslaved people in the U.S. were finally freed. By combining the words "June" and "nineteenth," Juneteenth became an annual day of celebration and remembrance for this moment of freedom.

Today, Juneteenth is a day to learn about and honor Black stories, culture and contributions. By celebrating Juneteenth, we can remember the past and work towards a better future where everyone is treated with dignity and equality.

Celebrating Juneteenth

Join us as we celebrate Black achievement in science and STEAM! Guests can meet and learn from Black scientists and creatives and partake in fun and engaging activities for the whole family.

Enjoy free general admission to the Museum from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
