Discovery Zone

Discovery Zone

The "Discovery Zone"—made possible by Kaiser Permanente— features new ways for your kids to safely have fun!

The "Discovery Zone" is bursting with activities that help build a strong foundation of science skills in young children as they look, ask, discover, make and share.

Due to covid-19 safety constraints, the capacity of the Discovery Zone is limited and regular cleaning breaks are scheduled. This limits the number of guests we can serve daily. We are now using a a timed ticketing system to provide the best access and guest experience.

Free tickets can be reserved onsite at kiosks at the entrance or on Level 2 the day of your visit. Kiosks will display tickets for the upcoming play time 30 minutes prior to each session. Guests wanting to join the 9:00 am play time are encouraged to check for availability at the Discovery Zone entrance.

What You Can Expect

Tickets

  • Timed tickets are required, and can be reserved onsite at kiosks at the entrance or on Level 2 the day of your visit.
  • Everyone in your group needs a timed ticket, including all children under three and babies.
  • Play times are 40 minutes. 10 minutes after the start of one, any play time reservations that are not redeemed will be released to guests awaiting "Discovery Zone" access.
  • Please play fair and reserve only one play time per visit. Guests reserving more than one play session per day may be asked by Museum staff to release their tickets.

When You Visit

  • By order of the City and County of Denver, all guests ages 3 and older must wear a face covering that covers your nose and mouth at all times.
  • We recommend bringing a change of clothes for young children (including face coverings for ages 3+) due to the chance they will get wet in the exciting new Water Way.
  • We ask that children and their grown-ups stay together and all household groups practice social distancing and remain six feet from other groups.

Fun!

  • Free hugs every day from our Parasaurolophus
  • Wet clothes as you splash in the Colorado-themed Water Way
  • Giggles and joy when you dance and paint with light in the Deep Sea Disco
  • Brain-stretches with each thing you build and engineer in the Construction Corner
  • A deep breath as you read a book or meet our fish in the Big Backyard
  • Tasty moments with every experiment you sample from the menu in the Science Kitchen
