DENVER  The Denver Museum of Nature & Science has announced its newest exhibition created by artist Sean Kenney, “Brick Planet: A magical journey made with LEGO® bricks.” Through this limited-time exhibition, guests are invited to take an imaginative journey to our planet’s unique ecosystems, brought to life through colorful, playful environments where nature provides the building blocks for creative inspiration and scientific discovery. The temporary exhibit opens to the public on Friday, Nov. 14 and will run through May 3, 2026.

Brick Planet brings our planet’s unique ecosystems to life through colorful, playful environments where nature is represented by LEGO® brick sculptures. From towering polar bears and vibrant coral reefs to bustling cities and sweeping African savannas, guests will feel a renewed sense of wonder for the connection between the science, nature and art.

“We’re excited for museum guests to experience our world’s incredible biodiversity through Brick Planet,” said Dr. Bridget Chalifour, the Museum’s curator for the exhibition. “From emperor penguins to a praying mantis and colorful coral reefs, the exhibition offers a fantastic window into how organisms live and work together through symbiosis — and it does so in a way that’s engaging and fun for all ages!”

Sean Kenney is a multiple award-winning artist whose exhibitions have toured globally since 2012. He has authored nine acclaimed children’s books and served as a guest judge on the hit reality show LEGO Masters.

In addition to marveling at Kenney’s intricate sculptures built from more than 1.5 million LEGO® bricks, visitors can enjoy interactive experiences throughout the galleries. Guests will have opportunities to build their own LEGO® brick creations, sketch in journals and play a magnetized game, making each visit a personalized adventure.

Galleries and Highlights:

  • Our Planet: Travel to new ecosystems with an avatar of Sean Kenney as your guide, where scenic design and soundscapes set the stage for discovery. From a monarch butterfly to interactive activities like a LEGO® world map and an animal-sound matching game, guests will find inspiration in both nature and art.

  • Polar Brrrricks: Journey to our planet’s polar opposites and explore the extremes of the Arctic and Antarctic with immersive soundscapes, polar bears and emperor penguins. Here guests can challenge themselves to waddle like a penguin and use an interactive display to discover unique adaptations that animals use to survive.

  • Ocean Odyssey: A school of fish made from LEGO® bricks sweep across the gallery. Light dances on the floor while sculptures sit among vibrant images of ocean environments. Build your own underwater coral sea life with LEGO® bricks and delight in the playful shapes of these unique creatures!

  • Savannah Crossing: Sean’s Disappearing Rhino sculpture provides a centerpiece in this space, reminding visitors of their beauty and our role to protect this species and their ecosystem. Also, view large-scale Zebra and Wildebeest sculptures and learn about their annual migration from Kenya’s Masai Mara through Tanzania’s Serengeti.

  • Walk in the Woods: Looking through the “Sean-oculars,” visitors see the world “brickified.” Sean’s sculptures emphasize the critical importance of biodiversity in healthy, interconnected forest ecosystems.

  • Connect in the City: Sculptures and infographics combine to introduce visitors to the challenges of urban design, prompting visitors to consider how the built environment affects the natural world — and vice versa.

  • Our Own Backyard: Sean’s sculptures of gardeners and various pollinators remind visitors that their backyard is connected to the broader world. Visitors learn how gardens can support biodiversity, grow food and connect us to nature. Sean’s garden sculptures inspire visitors to tend to their own environment.

Brick Planet is open to all museum members and general admission ticketholders. No additional purchase is required to visit Brick Planet.
