Letter from the President

Dear members,

Although 2021 was a year of ups and downs and a healthy dose of the unknown, you were here for us and with us. Last year, more than 21,000 new members joined the Museum and over 22,000 existing members renewed their memberships. We were thrilled to host many of you at the Museum as well as for our virtual programming throughout a tumultuous year. I am humbled by your support. On behalf of the entire Museum team, you have our deepest gratitude.

I hope you’ll continue to visit and engage with us, whether at the Museum or from anywhere through our virtual programming. We have our final Guitar Session coming up on April 14 with Flex Fast4ward and host Alicia “Bruce” Trujillo. And if you didn’t have the chance to see “Egypt: The Time of Pharaohs” on member preview day, get your tickets and transport yourself 5,000 years into the past to experience ancient Egyptian culture like never before.

Keep reading for stories on the fascinating and award-winning science our team is doing. In our Museum Insider section, read about our plans for the largest donation the Museum has ever received. Learn more about the Hollingsworth Collection from former interns Alexis Williams and Catherine Neie, Assistant Collections Manager Nicole Neu-Yagle and Curator of Geology James Hagadorn in our Museum Treasures section. Check out our Discover Science section to go into the field in France on a mission to recover remains of a WWII pilot with Curator of Archaeology Michele Koons.

And finally, if you’re looking for more ways to get involved with the Museum see our Get Involved section for tips on making the most of your membership and to learn more about our Stucky Postdoctoral Fellowship Fund.

Thank you for your support.
