Letter from the President

Dear members,

Welcome to your summer 2022 issue of Catalyst. As the seasons transition, I hope you’re finding time to get out into nature and enjoy its many lessons and benefits.

At the Museum and at DMNS On Demand, we’ve got a fun and science-filled summer ahead, just a fraction of which you’ll see in the following pages.

On July 19, we temporarily closed the Phipps® IMAX Theater for renovations. The theater will reopen in December with an all new projection and sound system, lobby aesthetic and seating.

If you’re curious who is behind the cover art of your Catalyst magazines, this is the issue to dive into! In our Museum Insider section, you’ll meet Museum Photographer Rick Wicker. Read about his inspiration and some of his most interesting projects.

I’m excited to share that the detailed designs for the Nature Play area in City Park are complete and construction planning is underway in partnership with Denver Parks & Recreation. See our Museum Treasures section for a brief history of the park and an update on the Nature Play project.

And finally, if you’re looking for more ways to get involved with the Museum check out our Get Involved section for ways in which a gift from you will make an impact on the Nature Play project.

Thank you for your support,

George Sparks signature
