Monday: 5 SENSES AND THE NERVOUS SYSTEM

  • Question of the Day: How do our bodies help us process the world around us? 
  • Museum Exploration: Engage our different senses in Edge of the Wild diorama halls and Anschutz Family Sky Terrace. 
  • STEAM Challenge/ExplorationExplore each of our five senses and focus on how our eyes work. Watch an eye dissection.

Tuesday: DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

  • Question of the Day: Why does my food look different after it travels through my body?
  • Museum Exploration: Temporary Exhibition 
  • STEAM Challenge/Exploration: Follow the path food takes through the different organs of our digestive system.

Wednesday: CIRCULATORY SYSTEM

  • Question of the DayWhen my heart pumps blood, what is actually happening? 
  • Museum ExplorationExpedition Health to explore more broadly the systems of the human body.
  • STEAM Challenge/Exploration: Watch a heart dissection and see the different chambers of the heart.

Thursday: RESPIRATORY SYSTEM

  • Question of the DayWhat is air anyways and how do our lungs work? 
  • Museum ExplorationEgyptian Mummies to explore the ways people interacted with the human body in different time periods.
  • STEAM Challenge/Exploration: Make your own snot!

Friday: MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM

  • Question of the Day: How do our bones support us?  
  • Museum ExplorationPrehistoric Journey to examine bones from animals other than humans.
  • STEAM Challenge/Exploration: Build skeletons and compare our bones with the ones we can see of other animals. 
    **FRIDAY FUN

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

  • On their first day of camp, your camper will receive a camp t-shirt. We request that all campers wear their camp shirts and closed-toe shoes that are comfortable and good for walking each day. We recommend bringing a water bottle and require that our campers bring a sack lunch.
  • We will be playing in the park. Please be sure your camper is prepared to be walking, playing and exploring in the sunshine!
  • The camp day begins at 9:00 a.m. Outdoor check in will be held on the south side of the Museum and staff will be there to direct you. 
  • Indoor check out will begin at 3:15 p.m., in the Southeast Atrium in front of Gems and Minerals.
    • Please have your photo ID ready to keep the process moving quickly.
    • Please be sure to add everyone who may be picking up your camper in your child(ren)'s Trusted Contacts in CampDoc.
  • To ensure that your child has a great experience at camp and for their safety, any Camper Registration Forms not submitted for review or confirmed as “Approved” by the Denver Museum of Nature & Science two weeks prior to the upcoming registered camp date will have their camp registration for the purchased week forfeited without refund. The purchaser of the camp will be asked to provide the email of the individual responsible for the completion of any and all registration forms.

  • Campers must be at least 5 years of age by the date of their camp week. 
  • Children registered for the DMNS Science Day Camps must be toilet trained and able to use the bathroom on their own. Museum staff will not diaper children. If children are unable to use the restroom on their own, they will be sent home and can return when they are able to do so on their own.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

If you qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch, you may qualify for a scholarship that covers 50% or 100% of your camp fees. Call to learn more and to see if you qualify at 303.370.6000

Scholarship spots are set aside ahead of time from general camp registration spots. Scholarships are limited and availability is not guaranteed.

*Please be aware that we can experience higher than normal wait times on our phone lines in regards to DMNS camps, and we ask that you are patient as we work to provide a great experience for all guests.
