This is a specimen from the Gunther von Hagens Institute for Plastination in Germany. It is a cross section of the human torso. Visible on the right is the liver, and then the base of the kidneys toward the center. This type of preparation preserves the tissue down to the cellular level, making them ideal for anatomy studies.
